O'Connors advises MAPD Group on Thomson Hayton Winkley Solicitors acquisition

Thomson Hayton Winkley Solicitors and the Rural Law practice ('THW') has been acquired by MAPD Group. The firm is one of Cumbria’s largest law firms, with 60 staff across six offices in the Lake District; it also has estate agency and financial services arms.

MAPD Group (which stands for Making A Positive Difference) is backed by Shard Capital Partners and was established in 2019 to power the growth of local law firms nationally through acquisition. MAPD Group owners Brian Cullen and Joanna Kingston-Davies – CEO and COO respectively – are committed to investing in local law firms and helping them to grow.

The acquisition was funded by Shard Credit Partners.

MAPD Group were advised on financial matters by Carl Swansbury of Ryecroft Glenton and his colleagues Tom Cosby, Sam Shield, Grahame Maughan, Andrew Cameron, Jonathan Delaney and Simon Whiteside.

THW joins Jackson Lees Group, Myers & Co, Bermans, and Bromleys in the MAPD portfolio.
